Training Delivery
Astronaut-grade human performance training for analog astronaut candidates and for the crews about to launch.
Who it’s for
Candidates and crews
Every training we deliver is rooted in the NASA Human Behavior & Performance Competency Model, because in high-pressure environments knowledge isn’t enough. We develop the full human system: communication, conflict management, leadership, team living, cultural awareness, emotional regulation, and situational decision-making.
For individuals
Analog astronaut candidates
You’ve said yes to the mission. Now you want the structure, systems, and feedback to be the crew member everyone wants on their team. The STAR Course is self-paced, and completing it unlocks certification and mission opportunities.

Crews preparing for a mission
You have a crew, a habitat, and a launch date. We train the crew together, before they go, on the human skills that decide whether an isolated team rises or falls under pressure.

STAR Course
Self-study · For candidates
Nine self-study modules built around astronaut-grade Human Behavior & Performance competencies, focused on operational clarity, real risk awareness, and crew readiness. Videos, readings, reflections, and quizzes at your own pace.
You get: nine modules, knowledge reviews and exam prep, a downloadable performance toolkit (planners, safety checklists, communication frameworks, decision tools), and eligibility for the STAR candidate exam.

The competencies that decide missions
NASA’s Human Behavior & Performance competencies are the gold standard for astronaut training. They are the backbone of every IPL program.

Clear, closed-loop, and honest, especially when it’s uncomfortable.

Teamwork & group living
Sharing space, workload, and stress without losing the crew.

Leadership & followership
Leading when it’s yours, supporting when it isn’t.

Conflict management
Say the thing. Hear the thing. Get better.

Cross-cultural awareness
International crews are the norm, not the exception.

Self-care & self-management
Sleep, fitness, nutrition, and emotional regulation under load.

Situational awareness & decision making
Seeing the system, not just the task in front of you.
What candidates say
The STAR.CREW training was excellent and challenging in several ways. I enjoyed the teamwork sessions where we learned key communication skills to ensure mission success. I also enjoyed being challenged by the workouts! The training left me and my teammates with a great bond that I hope will continue for years to come.
Having completed STAR for Analogs, I feel supremely equipped and confident to embark on future analog space missions. The training, resources, and community access provided by this program serve as invaluable tools for anyone keen on pushing the boundaries of space exploration.
